SQUARES VGA - Version 1.0 Copyright 1991
I am sure at one time or another you have all played
a variation of this game with a piece of paper and a pencil.
It has been around for a long time. I used to play it a lot
to keep myself awake during many a boring chemistry class.
Perhaps you did too.
Originally, I made this program to amuse my five year
old sister. It worked great! She would stay plugged in for
hours, making designs and watching the letters of her name
appear on the computer screen. Soon, however, I caught my
father and brother playing this game and decided to modify
it for public use. Well, here it is, made entirely for your
amusement!
I was only sixteen years old when I made Squares.
It was written in Turbo Pascal version 5.5. This is the
first program that I have ever written as shareware. I hope
that you enjoy it.
PROGRAM CONTROLS
CURSOR KEYS - Move pointer across grid
SPACEBAR - Select/Unselect points on grid
Q - Quit the game
S - Toggle the sound on/off
This program requires a VGA graphics card to run.
HAVE FUN!!
The following files should be present with your shareware
copy of SQUARES VGA:
SQUARES.EXE - The actual SQUARES VGA program
SQUARES.DOC - The file you are reading which describes
SQUARES VGA and contains registration
information.
RGST.FRM - A text file which contains the SQUARES VGA
registration form.
FORM.BAT - A batch file which prints the file RGST.FRM
I welcome any feedback you have regarding how I can
improve SQUARES VGA to better accommodate your entertainment
needs. Any comments that you have about the program would
be appreciated. Please send them to the address below.
If you really enjoyed this program and are in a particularly
generous mood, feel free to send a $14.95 registration fee
along with a completed registration form to the following
address:
Daniel R. Smith
18 Sunapee Heights Court
Sunapee, NH 03782
To print the registration form, type "FORM" at the DOS
prompt in the directory where SQUARES is located and press
enter.
It is to your benefit to register your copy of SQUARES. In
order for the concept of shareware to continue to succeed
people like you and I must support it.
After registering, you will receive the following:
- You will be mailed the most recent version of SQUARES VGA
which will be registered in your name.
- You will receive a signed document acknowledging that you
have registered your version of SQUARES VGA.
- The annoying little screen which blips up when you quit
the game will no longer appear in the version of SQUARES
VGA sent to you.
- You will feel good about yourself for being an honest,
charitable individual.
THANKS A MILLION AND ENJOY!
